Student Ambassador Program
The BioBuilder Student Ambassador Program empowers current and former BioBuilder students to develop essential leadership, communication, networking, and collaboration skills while advancing synthetic biology and biotechnology education.
Student Ambassadors
Ambassadors serve as peer mentors, science communicators, and program advocates, creating meaningful connections within the BioBuilder community and beyond.
Ambassadors participate in the science community through speaking engagements, attending and tabling events, visiting classrooms and presenting at online webinars.
Ambassador Responsibilities
Professional Development & Mentorship
- Participate in quarterly goal-setting sessions with BioBuilder’s National Program Coordinator and Boston Program and Outreach Manager
- Participate in webinars on LinkedIn profile and resume development and learn how to communicate your BioBuilder experiences
- BioBuilderClub Student Ambassadors: Engage with BioBuilderClub members on the Discord server as peer mentors by sharing best practices, fundraising strategies, research tips, and collaboration tools
Science Communication & Outreach
- Enhance BioBuilder’s digital presence across social media platforms. Engage with the BioBuilder community and generate excitement about our programs on social media.
- Present your BioBuilder experiences and research projects at symposiums and student panels
- Participate in online webinars and virtual outreach events
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Student Ambassador Program, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in high school or recent high school graduate
- At least 16 years old
- Previous participation in at least one BioBuilder student program: BioBuilderClub, High School Apprenticeship Challenge, or Summer Research Program
- Has a LinkedIn profile and is part of our BioBuilder Alumni Network on LinkedIn (Students who have completed one of our multiweek programs and are at least 16 years old can join here).
- Demonstrated passion for BioBuilder’s educational mission

Application Process
The Student Ambassador application opens multiple times annually. Students completing our multi-week programs will receive invitations to apply. Please review the responsibilities and requirements before submitting your application through the provided link found in this document.
