Shakhi Andrews, a BioBuilder 2026 summer intern, completed the High School Apprenticeship Challenge in 2022, and went on to study molecular biology at Case Western Reserve University.
During the summer, Shakhi was with BioBuilder at the Learning Lab @Allston Labworks where they helped teach and support the Summer Research Program students as they worked on their research projects.

Eric Bueno completed a 12-week internship at BioBuilder during Summer 2026. Eric is a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University where he conducts his research in the Dunlop Lab.
Eric integrated Transfyr’s benchtop AI observatory into BioBuilder’s educational framework at the Learning Lab @Allston Labworks. He then pilot tested it during BioBuilder teacher professional development workshops and the Summer Research Program.
Eric also worked on the design and testing of a small, simplified, low-cost spectrophotometer, and spent one week helping facilitate a Teacher Professional Development Workshop, and two weeks helping with BioBuilder’s Summer Research Program.
